World of Warcraft loves it classic – the world bosses from Vanilla are returning and bringing their transmog loot.
Many players of World of Warcraft might not recognize the names. Who to the Nether is Doomlord Kazzak? And what is an Azuregos supposed to be? But veterans from the Classic times have tears of nostalgia in their eyes at the mention of these names, because back then, world bosses were of a completely different caliber than today in Legion.
Blizzard seems to want to bring back the “big, old” world bosses. In the game data for Patch 7.2.5, data miners have found hints that the 6 world bosses from Classic will make a revival – in the form of a timewalker.
Doomlord Kazzak was a world boss in the Blasted Lands for a long time and was particularly popular because he had no aggro range limitation for a long time. Players could pull him all the way to Stormwind, where he then wiped out the entire Alliance population until he was either defeated or a GameMaster removed him graciously.
Azuregos is a blue dragon that served as a world boss in Azshara for a long time. After the Cataclysm, he became more peaceful and was then a quest giver, occasionally speaking for the blue dragonflight.
The Nightmare Dragons are also returning
The four dragons of the Nightmare, namely Smariss, Lethon, Taerar, and Ysondra, were in Classic the guardians of the portals, which can still be seen today in places like Duskwood or the Hinterlands. In the current time, they are bosses in the Emerald Nightmare and have long been fully corrupted.
The dragons and Kazzak will likely leave behind those weapons that are barely known to players today and are therefore considered coveted transmog items.
Killing these bosses in the timewalker format seems to be linked to a quest that grants time-warped badges. Whether the world bosses will appear as a regular event or only be active for the anniversary of World of Warcraft in the autumn (like the molten core two years ago) remains to be seen. Blizzard has not yet commented on the extracted game data.

Illidan’s Warglaives of Azzinoth are also returning – but they have a pretty big catch!
