Many items in World of Warcraft are really nasty. They deal damage, leave terrible debuffs, or are perfect for trolling. However, some items are just nice and always give players a good feeling. Today we will talk about such an item – the Friendship Necklace.
The Item Spotlight is a new, regularly recurring format on MeinMMO. Every few weeks we want to highlight a special item from an MMO and clarify the most important questions. Where does the item come from? What is the use of the item? What is its story? We hope to point out a few cool items that you may have overlooked.
What is the Friendship Necklace? The Friendship Necklace (“B. F. F. Necklace”) is a toy in WoW that remains permanently in your collection after use. It is then available to all characters.
The necklace can be used on a target, granting them the “Best Friends” buff for 24 hours with the description: “Forever Friends!” This is accompanied by a little heart rising above the target’s head.
What can you do with the necklace? Basically, exactly what the item says. You “offer the necklace” and grant your target a buff that lasts for 24 hours. By the way, that is also the cooldown of the toy.
Your target will find it hard to remove the buff. Because the buff cannot simply be clicked away, nor is it removed upon death. No wonder, friendship surpasses trivialities like death.
Only PvP in the form of arenas and battlegrounds seems to remove the buff, as almost all player effects are removed here to ensure fairness.
The buff is wonderfully suited as a “thank you” effect in all kinds of situations. Did someone help you with potions or saved you from a death in a raid that you caused? Did someone lend you an ear in the guild and help you with problems? Did you have a nice evening role-playing?
All of this can easily be expressed with the Friendship Necklace.
Especially in online environments where things can often get rough, it’s a nice gesture to just leave a kind gesture. The Friendship Necklace is perfect for that.
But be careful not to be too generous with it. Otherwise, the jealous Blood Elf might ask why she didn’t receive your buff today, while the Nightborne in revealing clothing is now prancing around with your friendship buff.
How do you get the Friendship Necklace? You can get the Friendship Necklace in Pandaria. Travel to the Tonlong Steppes to the Temple of Niuzao. From there, travel to the marked cave entrance on the map, at coordinates 32 / 61.
Enter the cave and work your way to the end. Here you can go up a ramp, and you should already find the peculiar stone giant “Knu’dalon the Heart Watcher” there. Defeat him and loot his corpse – the Friendship Necklace is a guaranteed drop.
Activate the necklace to add it to your collection. After that, you can use the Friendship Necklace on any character and grant other players a heart and a (forced) friendship.
Please don’t turn into a crazy stalker who renews the necklace on the same target every 24 hours. Because that is creepy.
