A certain character in Patch 8.2 of World of Warcraft was almost considered dead. But it seems he might survive the patch after all.
Patch 8.2 of World of Warcraft has been active for a while now and the villains are clear. Sylvanas, Azshara, and N’Zoth are clearly bothering the players and keeping both the Alliance and the Horde on their toes. However, even though Queen Azshara is the final boss of the upcoming raid “Eternal Palace”, she is likely not to die. The Model Viewer has revealed this now.
What is the Model Viewer? The “WoW Model Viewer” is software that allows creatives to extract the models from World of Warcraft. This gives access not only to all models in the game (such as player characters, enemies, environments) but also to their animations – all of them. For example: Our WoW title images use the Model Viewer to depict the characters in their respective poses during an animation.
What was discovered? Notably, Queen Azshara is the final boss in the raid “Eternal Palace” and can thus be defeated by players. However, she does not have a usual death animation. Normally, (almost) all creatures have a “Death” animation, where the respective character lies dead on the ground at the end. However, Azshara’s death animation is different. She goes to the ground and remains there, breathing heavily – but is in any case still alive. A complete death does not exist for her.
What does this mean for Azshara? It seems that Azshara does not die, but something happens to her or her body after the fight. This will surely be revealed in a cinematic that will play after the fight. After all, the patch is called “Azshara’s Rise” and it could be that this refers to Azshara’s metaphorical rise to a higher being. A fusion with N’Zoth or another form of transformation could be conceivable.
This information should, of course, be taken with caution. It is certainly possible that Azshara dies in the “after cinematic” and that something happens to her corpse, which is why no death animation is necessary.
When will there be concrete information? We will likely get certainty on the upcoming Wednesday (07/10/2019), as the new raid will open on normal and heroic, allowing the first players to complete it. The corresponding cinematic should be released shortly thereafter.
