The players’ pleas have been heard. The rewards from the island expeditions in World of Warcraft are finally being improved. We will tell you how exactly.
Since the release of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, players have complained that the island expeditions are not worth it. The advertised rewards in the form of toys, pets, mounts, or transmog weapons are far too rare. But that is set to change soon.
What will change? Blizzard aims to “substantially” increase the drop rate for special items at the end of an island expedition. How high that chance will be is still uncertain. In plain language, this means that at the end of an expedition, you should significantly more often receive the following items:
- Quest starters
- Pets
- Mounts
- Toys
- Transmog items
When is the change coming? The respective hotfix is expected to go live today in America. This means that it will probably be activated here later today (September 15, 2018) in the evening hours.
Why is Blizzard changing this? Blizzard is changing the drop behavior at the end of the expeditions because many players have complained. There are numerous characters that have completed 50 or more expeditions and have not seen any of the special items at all. This should change drastically with the hotfix.
Cortyn says: I personally welcome the changes as I always enjoy collecting items and completing my pet collection. However, I do not believe that the “mass” of players will be satisfied with this. Because aside from a solid amount of artifact power, island expeditions still do not have a true gameplay benefit.
Are you now checking in on the island expeditions more often? Or do these cosmetic rewards not entice you at all? Would it need more than a higher drop rate for the expeditions to be interesting?
