The Chinese WoW pro guild “Skyline” gets loot through a trick – and does so without really playing. This puts them at the forefront of the World First race.
If you want to have good loot in World of Warcraft, you have to play hard content and invest time. This is mandatory, at least if you want to participate in the “World First race” at the top. However, a guild from China has exploited a trick that allows them to get loads of loot – while they are actually doing something entirely different.
Chinese Guild Starts World First Race with Best Items
What happened? In the race for the World First kill of the Jailer, the focus of the reporting is on the “usual suspects”. These are mainly well-known guilds such as Echo, Liquid, Pieces, or Method. In recent days, however, the Asian guild “Skyline” has also made headlines. They are currently in 4th place in the World First race (via method.gg).
It was noted: They started with a significantly higher item level than other pro guilds. A difference of 2-4 item levels already makes a huge impact.
How did they achieve the higher item level? Apparently, many players exploited a tactic that allowed them to obtain solid loot from “Mythic+” dungeons without actually participating in the dungeons. For this, each raider needed a (or several) groups of 4 helpers. The raid player would start a dungeon with their helper group and then immediately leave the group. The 4 helpers would then complete the dungeon together. In the meantime, the raid player would find 4 more helpers to repeat the process – many times.
The result is that the raiders can later simply collect their loot from the mailbox while they are actually doing other things – like raiding. This saves time and allows for a steady influx of loot, even when they are doing entirely different activities.
Raiders Exploit Mechanic That is Meant to Mitigate Unfair Behavior
Why does this mechanic even exist? The mechanic was actually created as a sort of protection against mean group leaders. In the past, it happened that some group leaders would kick a fellow player out of the group during or before the last boss – usually after some conflicts that occasionally arise in high-level mythic dungeons.
That is why Blizzard changed the system some time ago so that kicking a player (or leaving the group) still results in the player receiving loot at the end if the group completes the dungeon.
Is this whole thing even allowed? That is probably difficult to say. Strictly speaking, there is no rule against this tactic, and it is in fact game mechanic that a player who leaves the dungeon still gets to participate in the loot if the group completes the dungeon. However, it is unlikely that Blizzard intended this approach. There hasn’t been any punishment for it so far – and whether there will be a rule change in the terms of service is also still questionable.
Especially since this isn’t too far from the so-called “split raids”, where one player is gifted equipment while the other players are compensated with gold.
What do you think of this method to get good loot? A legitimate tactic? Or does it equate to cheating and should be penalized?
