As soon as the new expansion World of Warcraft for Blizzard’s MMORPG Shadowlands is released, the developers are already announcing new content in an interview with GameStar. In 2021, there will be a raid with a unique boss encounter.
What comes after Shadowlands? The new adventures of the WoW expansion Shadowlands are not over even after the content. Because Blizzard is already working on further content.
As Game Director Ion Hazzikostas revealed to the colleagues from Gamestar, WoW fans can look forward to a new raid in 2021.
New raid with a unique boss encounter
What kind of raid is this? The raid is supposed to offer a very special boss encounter. Ion Hazzikostas explains:
The encounter team is already working on the next raid. All I can say so far is that the final boss encounter will provide one of the most unique settings ever seen in a raid encounter in WoW. (…) This will blow some people away.

When will the raid come? Initially, on December 9, a raid will take you to Castle Nathria, which represents the stronghold of the dark lord Count Denathrius.
This raid should keep you busy for about three months. After that, the new raid with the special boss fight will be introduced. This means you can expect the raid around March 2021.
What else is planned after Shadowlands? According to Ion Hazzikostas, the new covenants will not be introduced as allied races. However, more allied races could come into the game. At least the team is considering it.
New professions are also not planned; the developers want to focus on the currently available ones and expand them to make them more relevant for the endgame.
What about a new expansion? Ion Hazzikostas explains that Shadowlands is not the last expansion for World of Warcraft. Initial planning for a new expansion is already underway. However, Blizzard wants to discuss it at a later time.
Initially, the two new raids, a patch, and updates will be released that will continue the story of Shadowlands.
