The Island Expeditions of World of Warcraft have a special gimmick this week. This makes them particularly easy and also particularly rewarding.
Island Expeditions are one of the major features of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Through them, players can not only obtain numerous pets and toys, but also relatively large amounts of artifact power in a short time.
In addition, there is a big bonus on reputation with the 7th Legion or an Oathbound each week when completing a certain number of Island Expeditions. However, this week (29.08.2018 – 04.09.2018) the expeditions are particularly easy.
Why are the expeditions easy? Each week, a different vendor with different offers is at the “spawn point” (that is, on the ship) of the expeditions. This time, for 3 Sea Dog Doubloons, you can get the control of the Siege Engine (Alliance) or the control of the Devastator (Horde). You can control these siege engines instead of your own character.
What to keep in mind: While the siege engines have 300,000 hit points, they take a lot of damage. The best setup is a group with a tank and two siege engines.
- Mainly use the ability “Throw Boulder,” which causes about 20,000 damage as an area effect every 2 seconds.
- Once per minute, you can also activate “Rain of Death,” which deals 150,000 damage to all enemies in the vicinity.
With these two abilities, all enemies and also the NPCs of the other faction can be quickly defeated. If you have two Rain of Deaths available, you can even take out the enemy NPCs in mythic mode alone with these attacks.
Where to get Sea Dog Doubloons? Sea Dog Doubloons are often received as a reward for completing an Island Expedition. Typically, you get between one and ten, depending on chance. They can also occasionally be found on the islands. They serve no purpose other than to make Island Expeditions easier. So feel free to spend them!
Now is the perfect time to complete a few expeditions on heroic and mythic difficulty to grab the rewards. Who knows when the vendor will return …
Have you already done a few Island Expeditions? How do you like them?
