Is your computer still capable of running World of Warcraft: Shadowlands? The system requirements are known, so you can now check if your computer is suitable.
With the upcoming expansion Shadowlands, World of Warcraft is going to look a bit nicer again. However, detailed new environments and new effects require more processing power – this could affect the gaming experience of many players.
Although WoW generally works well on older computers, it becomes critical beyond a certain limit. This limit is pushed a bit higher with each expansion. The same goes for Shadowlands. We reveal the system requirements for the upcoming expansion.
Shadowlands – Here are the system requirements
The minimum requirements: If you want to “barely” play Shadowlands, your computer must meet the following requirements.
| Operating System | Windows 7 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-3450 AMD FX 8300 |
| Graphics Card | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AM Radeon RX 560 or Intel UHD 630 (45W) |
| RAM | 4GB RAM (8GB for integrated graphics) |
| Storage | SSD drive with 100 GB of free space |
| Internet | Broadband Internet |
| Input Device | Keyboard and mouse |
| Resolution | at least 1024×768 screen resolution |
However, you shouldn’t expect maximum graphics quality under these circumstances. Some compromises will have to be made.
The recommended requirements: If you want WoW to shine in all its glory, your computer needs to be a bit more powerful. With the following setup, according to Blizzard, you are well prepared:
| Operating System | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i7-6700K AMD Ryzen 7 2700X |
| Graphics Card | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 DirectX 12 compatible GPU with 8GB VRAM |
| RAM | 8GB RAM |
| Storage | SSD drive with 100 GB of free space |
| Internet | Broadband Internet |
| Input Devices | Keyboard and mouse with multiple buttons and scroll wheel |
| Resolution | at least 1024×768 screen resolution |
Note that using interface modifications (addons) can additionally impact performance and may lead to a higher RAM load.
SSD for Shadowlands? The reason why World of Warcraft now requires an SSD even for the minimum requirements is not entirely clear. Presumably, otherwise, the loading times would simply be too high to ensure a smooth gaming experience.
Can your computer handle it? Or will you have to replace a few components before the release of Shadowlands in October?
