Those who scour the waters in the Immersang Forest can find a secret in World of Warcraft. An drowned prince awaits.
While most players are still frolicking in the areas of Midnight and completing quests, some are already exploring the regions that are usually off the beaten path – such as the waters. Those who pay close attention can find a few hidden details, like the statue of a prince that the Blood Elves are not very fond of.
Kael’thas lies abandoned in the sea
Where can one find the statue? If you want to find the statue of Prince Kael’thas yourself, travel to the city of Silvermoon and head north to the harbor. At coordinates 36 / 28, you need to dive and can discover the sunken statue of the former Silvermoon ruler at the bottom of the sea. He is actually surrounded by his deep green spheres – the hallmark of the Blood Mages, even back in Warcraft III.
The statue appears to have been there for quite some time, as it has already been occupied by several starfish:
The statue is a small but nice detail that Blizzard has built in here.
Why is the statue in the water? Kael’thas was the last monarchical ruler of the Blood Elves and was very popular for a long time. After all, he provided his people with new magic after the Scourge’s attack and both offered the Blood Knights a Naaru and quelled the elves’ addiction to magic with fel magic.
However, he likely does not enjoy a good reputation among most Sin’dorei today. After leading parts of his people into the shattered world, he later succumbed to the temptations of the Burning Legion and joined them.
He then led his freshly transformed fel blood elves and demons to Quel’thalas to claim the Sunwell – thus repeating the traumatic experience that the elves had gone through just a few years earlier with the undead Scourge.
The Sunwell was at risk of not only being completely destroyed and ruining any chance of purification, but also of sacrificing the world of the Burning Legion – after all, Kil’jaeden almost came through the portal that was opened in the Sunwell.
Correspondingly, Prince Kael’thas likely remains poorly remembered among most Blood Elves, who simply threw statues of him into the sea – to literally drown this part of the past.
The story of World of Warcraft is quite complex. No wonder, as the Warcraft universe has now been around for over 30 years. If you want to learn more about the story of Kael’thas and some other important Blood Elves: The 5 most important Sin’dorei from the history of World of Warcraft.
