Those who join the World of Warcraft Venthyr become their minions. They must ensure that the vampire parties run smoothly.
The choice of covenant in the upcoming WoW expansion Shadowlands is an important decision. However, not only major content, such as the covenant abilities or soul binds, depend on it, but also smaller events. One of them you get with the Venthyr – you get to try being a party planner and must ensure that the next vampire party is a real hit!
What kind of event is that? The Venthyr live quite extravagantly – after all, they try to maintain a rather snobbish nobility. Thus, celebrations such as a ball or court days must not be missing. Here, the Venthyr invite their peers and important partners from other realms of the Shadowlands to impress them and negotiate.
For this to succeed, the atmosphere of the event must be right, refreshments provided, and threats contained. All of this is the player’s responsibility. The colleagues from wowhead have already taken a detailed look at the event.
How does it work? You unlock the event quite early in the covenant campaign. You start by putting together a selection of guests. Each guest has different needs and expectations for a party that must be considered. If Lady Vashj is on the guest list, then she has preferences for decadence, excitement, and a certain degree of danger. You should preferably not invite guests who prefer it less imposing or quieter, as you cannot satisfy them all.
Once the guest list is set, you choose a type of entertainment that takes place at the party. This could be the performance of a special band, but also a beast show with dangerous creatures or a traditional event where the Venthyr judge the fate of some souls. The range is wide, and each event provides bonuses in different atmosphere categories.
These categories are also the crux of the party that you can influence. In total, there are 5 values you can influence, which are represented on a scale. These are:
- Dirty and Clean
- Safe and Dangerous
- Modest and Decadent
- Relaxing and Exciting
- Casual or Formal
Almost everything you do at the party changes one or more scales. For example, if you want to impress Lady Vash, you should ensure that the celebration becomes a bit more decadent with extra drinks and snacks. Dangerous fireworks make the party less safe, but at the same time more exciting. Through conversations, you can also spread “scandalous rumors,” which also contributes to increasing the excitement.
There are many activities available. This ranges from passing around drinks to taking down assassins who want to kill the guests or starting a food fight.
How often can you do this? In the current beta, the event can currently be played every day, so you can try out the different functions like guests, events, and activities. However, in the finished game, this is only possible once a week. Once a week, you will be able to invest 20-30 minutes in throwing a nice party for the Venthyr – or to fail miserably at it.
What does it bring? The rewards are not yet fully clear. So far, it seems that you receive a zone-wide buff for a few days if you satisfy appropriate guests from the respective area. So if Lady Vashj from Maldraxxus is invited to the party and you meet the needs of the Naga, you receive a buff at the end. This makes you more effective in Maldraxxus and grants extra attributes or a chance to unleash a Chain Lightning on attacks.
Whether the event remains fun after several weeks or needs a revision will become apparent over the course of the beta.
