Do you want to make the Maw in World of Warcraft more bearable? Blizzard is helping you out by providing a round of mushrooms with great effects.
Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination has been playable on the PTR for quite a while now. However, new content and details continue to be added regularly, which players are discovering gradually.
If you have ever thought, “Wow, the Maw is unbearable sober” – don’t worry. Blizzard has apparently heard you and introduced a series of mushrooms that alter your perception.
Where can you find the mushrooms? The mushrooms grow everywhere in the new area Korthia, which is located in the Maw. You can find the “Invasive Mushrooms” on trees or bone formations. They mostly contain only relic fragments for one of the new factions and Anima tokens. Occasionally, however, they may also contain “Questionable Mawshrooms” that trigger strange effects when consumed.
What do the mushrooms do? The mushrooms trigger a series of effects that are quite reminiscent of a strange drug trip. The folks at wowhead have already sampled the mushrooms and described what each of them triggers.
The first “buff” causes a strong gray filter to be applied over everything. This makes the environment of the Maw – but also any other environment – even more dreary and barren. Nothing but a mood killer.

The second effect allows you to take the “joys” of the Maw with you anywhere. Because once eaten, all creatures appear as if they come from the Maw for 10 minutes. All NPCs are then visually replaced by Maw-bound warriors, floating eyes, and souls fused into armors. That’s sure to lift your spirits.
The last effect maximizes paranoia. Because the player can see a giant image of the Jailer slowly and incessantly approaching, accompanied by his stomping sounds. At least nothing bad happens when the Jailer reaches the player.
When is Patch 9.1 released? There is no fixed release date for Patch 9.1 yet. However, since new content is still being added and Blizzard has said that Patch 9.1 will not be released simultaneously with Burning Crusade Classic, we will have to wait at least until mid-June. Most players expect a release in early July.
