Dungeons are going to be really tough in WoW: Dragonflight. At least if you want to have the best gear.
If you want to obtain the best gear in World of Warcraft’s endgame, there are several ways to do so. In addition to raids, PvP, and a few nice pieces from crafting, the best loot can mainly be found in the “Mythic+” dungeons. So far, it was sufficient to complete a dungeon at the level of “+15” to receive the best possible loot.
In the next expansion Dragonflight, this will change. You will have to complete even higher dungeons – and the overall difficulty will even increase further.
What happens in Dragonflight? To receive the best gear from the weekly reward chest, it was necessary in the past to complete at least one dungeon of the difficulty “Mythic+15”. In Dragonflight, this requirement will increase further, so at least one dungeon of the difficulty “Mythic+20” will be needed. It will therefore be harder to get the best gear through dungeons. You can see the rewards at each level here:
| Keystone Level | Dungeon Chest (iLvL) | Weekly Chest (iLvL) |
|---|---|---|
| +2 | 376 | 382 |
| +3 | 376 | 385 |
| +4 | 379 | 385 |
| +5 | 379 | 389 |
| +6 | 382 | 389 |
| +7 | 385 | 392 |
| +8 | 385 | 395 |
| +9 | 389 | 395 |
| +10 | 392 | 398 |
| +11 | 392 | 402 |
| +12 | 392 | 405 |
| +13 | 392 | 408 |
| +14 | 395 | 408 |
| +15 | 398 | 411 |
| +16 | 398 | 415 |
| +17 | 402 | 415 |
| +18 | 402 | 418 |
| +19 | 405 | 418 |
| +20 | 405 | 421 |
This change also includes the adjustment that you can upgrade items with Valor Points one level further. However, this will require a dungeon rating of 2,400 to reach this highest tier. You can view the necessary ratings here:
| Upgrade Level | Item Level | Required Rating |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 376 | None |
| 2 | 379 | None |
| 3 | 382 | None |
| 4 | 385 | None |
| 5 | 389 | None |
| 6 | 392 | None |
| 7 | 395 | 600 |
| 8 | 398 | 1,000 |
| 9 | 402 | 1,000 |
| 10 | 405 | 1,400 |
| 11 | 408 | 1,700 |
| 12 | 411 | 2,000 |
| 13 | 415 | 2,400 |
Why are dungeons getting harder? Another adjustment relates to the scaling of dungeons, making them tougher at higher levels. Currently, increasing difficulty at each level raises the health points of enemies and their damage by 8%. With Dragonflight, this will only apply until “Mythic+10.” From Mythic+11 onward, both values will increase by 10% per keystone level.
In plain terms: All dungeons from level +11 will be even tougher than before, and you’ll notice each increase in the keystone much more significantly.
Why is Blizzard doing this? In the past seasons, “Mythic+” has established itself as the comparatively easy way to quickly get good gear. It was often much easier to just run a few “Mythic+15” dungeons with a good group than to join a heroic raid. Blizzard wants to bring these various systems back into more alignment regarding their difficulty.
For the same reason, with each season in Dragonflight, there will be a completely new set of dungeons, meaning in “Season 2” of Dragonflight, there will be no dungeon that you have already visited in “Season 1” of Dragonflight. This way, “Mythic+” fans will have to adapt to completely new dungeons and the strategies that come with them. They will experience a similar “getting used to new content” as Raiding players do.
What do you think of this change? Good adjustments to keep Mythic+ exciting and interesting? Or do they ruin your favorite game mode?
