Only 5 days left, and then two of the coolest mounts in WoW will no longer be available. Last call for those who still want the mounts.
In World of Warcraft, the birthday event has been active for a few weeks, enticing players with powerful buffs and some additional activities. But this time is now coming to an end. Those who want the two mounts from the birthday event must hurry this week – otherwise, they could be gone forever.
Which mounts are we talking about? We’re referring to the Obsidian Worldbreaker, which is clearly inspired by the dragon Deathwing. The second mount varies by faction and is based on the iconic factions from the Alterac Valley – the Stormpike Battle Ram (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Howler (a wolf).
You can earn the mounts from two different types of content – once PvP and once PvE. Both variants are quite simple and only require some time commitment.
This is how you get the Ram and the Wolf: From the battleground “Korrak’s Revenge,” you can get the Stormpike Battle Ram (Alliance) or the Frostwolf Howler (Horde). If you obtain one of the two mounts, you will also automatically possess the other, but can only use them with characters of the corresponding faction.
To obtain the two mounts, you need to earn 200 Time-Warped Badges with a single character in Korrak’s Revenge. These are awarded for completing the battleground, but also for the numerous daily and repeatable quests in the battleground. For instance, you can capture a mine or tame rams to earn the badges.
By the way, Patch 8.3 is starting soon – These are the things you should definitely do beforehand!
This is how you get the Deathwing mount: The Obsidian Worldbreaker, on the other hand, is available for all players who complete 3 “new” raid wings. You can sign up for it with Chromie in the Caverns of Time. Each wing consists of 3 bosses, and usually, you only have to clear one or two phases of each boss encounter. The mechanics are sometimes a bit more challenging than in a normal LFR raid, but in the second or third attempt, any group should be able to defeat the bosses.
If you have defeated all 9 bosses, you will automatically receive the achievement, and the Obsidian Worldbreaker will be added to your collection.
When does the event end? The birthday of World of Warcraft ends on January 8 at 8:00 AM. Anyone who wants the rewards should ensure that they obtain them by January 7 at the latest.
Will the mounts ever return? This is uncertain. The 15th-anniversary event of WoW is significantly larger than previous events and thus a special occurrence. It is quite possible that parts of this event, such as the raid or the battleground “Korrak’s Revenge,” may not return in the coming years. If so, then the associated mounts will no longer be available.
Anyone who wants to be safe and doesn’t want a gaping hole in their mount collection in the coming years should grab both mounts now.
