Hunters in World of Warcraft are eager for Patch 9.1. They have the chance to obtain the legendary bow from Sylvanas.
One of the major highlights of Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination in World of Warcraft is likely to be the battle against Sylvanas Windrunner. She is the final boss in the Sanctum of Domination. While some players are keen on the story progression, others just want to blow out the (un)life lights of the former Banshee Queen. However, the fight brings another controversy:
Sylvanas’ bow is a legendary item only for hunters, with a really cool ability.
What kind of bow is it? Although Patch 9.1 hasn’t been released yet, Sylvanas’ bow has already gone through several development stages. At first, it was “just epic” but has become legendary in recent versions of the PTR and finally has its own name: “Rae’shalare, Death’s Whisper”.

What makes the bow so special? The bow is particularly special, even for a legendary item. This is not only due to its solid stats but also because of a very special property. Hunters who wield this bow are granted an additional ability they can use. This ability is the “Wailing Arrow”.
The Wailing Arrow costs 30 Focus and has a cooldown of 30 seconds. The hunter fires an enchanted arrow that deals moderate damage to the primary target and additional minor damage to all targets within an 8-meter radius. Lower creatures hit by the arrow are stunned for 6 seconds.
The “Wailing Arrow” is one of Sylvanas’ known signature abilities. In Heroes of the Storm, it’s one of her ultimate abilities, which can deal area damage and silence enemy heroes. In World of Warcraft, Sylvanas uses these arrows more frequently, especially in the battle against Bolvar (Shadowlands Cinematic) or during the Battle of Undercity, where she destroys one of the siege towers with the arrow.
A bow only for hunters – at least 2 out of 3: However, there is already a lot of criticism towards Rae’shalare. On one hand, many players complain that hunters will be the only class capable of wielding two legendary items in Shadowlands simultaneously.
But even hunters themselves are dissatisfied. Since the bow is a ranged weapon, it only suits Beast Mastery and Marksmanship hunters. The last specialization, Survival, relies primarily on melee weapons and is currently quite unpopular anyway. There are concerns that this will push the 3rd specialization even further into obscurity if a legendary bow effectively becomes mandatory.
Does Sylvanas die? Also interesting is the accompanying discussion about whether Sylvanas will actually die permanently in the boss fight. After all, she leaves behind her legendary bow, which suggests that her corpse will indeed be looted. However, we will probably find out more about this only after the release of Patch 9.1, when the accompanying cinematic is published.
However, it is still unknown how often the bow will drop. This will heavily influence whether Rae’shalare becomes a must-have item or rather a “nice-to-have” item for players with a collecting passion.
What do you think about Sylvanas leaving her bow behind?
