Leveling the bodyguards in Nazjatar takes a lot of time, but is important in World of Warcraft. We will tell you how to do it much faster.
In Nazjatar there’s plenty to do and some tasks take a lot of time. Every player can choose three bodyguards who will accompany them every step of the way. Leveling these bodyguards is part of many achievements and is also required for mounts or an essence of the Heart of Azeroth.
The problem: Anyone who levels their bodyguards solely through the daily missions will need exactly 90 days, during which they must complete all quests – so almost 3 months. However, this time can be reduced, sometimes even drastically. We’ll reveal to you which tricks you can use to level your bodyguards a bit faster.

Guide: Leveling followers in Nazjatar quickly
The trick is that there are several items in Nazjatar that you can give to your bodyguards. Then either a specific or all bodyguards receive a small amount of experience points. Some of these items can only be obtained once a week, while others can be farmed endlessly, thereby completing the leveling in a shorter time with enough effort.
Unusual items: There are several unusual (green) items that have a low drop chance. These items can be farmed infinitely, but it can take a while.
- Eel fillet: Can be dropped by any eel and snake creatures in Nazjatar. It increases the experience of Vim (Horde) or Ori (Alliance) by 50.
- Deep ray wings: Dropped by all rays. It increases the experience of Neri (Horde) or Akana (Alliance) by 50.
- Giant crab leg: All crabs in Nazjatar have a chance to drop their leg. It increases the experience of Poen (Horde) or Inowari (Alliance) by 50.
- Reef wanderer bark: The reef wanderer bark has a slightly greater benefit as it provides more overall experience. It can be dropped by any reef wanderer and increases the experience of all bodyguards by 20 (a total of 60).
Rare items: In addition to the unusual items, there are also the rare (blue) items. These are significantly rarer and harder to obtain, but have a much stronger benefit.
- Ancient reef wanderer bark: This item can be exchanged to grant 100 experience for all 3 bodyguards (a total of 300). It can be dropped by the 4 different rare reef wanderers. How to summon them, we revealed here. However, this item can only be dropped once a week on your character.
- Naga orders: You can obtain the Naga orders multiple times per week if you’re lucky. They can rarely be contained in the chests you can discover with the Seer stone (a drop from rare enemies). They give all bodyguards a significant experience boost of 150 points (a total of 450).
Alternatively, this item can sometimes be bought from the Murloc Mrrl if you wear a benthic cloak that reveals his additional offerings.
Epic items: Finally, there is one item that falls into the epic (purple) quality tier. But don’t be fooled by the rarity, it is weaker than the blue options.
- Unusually wise hermit crab: This crab is sometimes sold in the regular offer by the Murloc Mrrl at the respective camp of the Alliance or Horde. It grants 75 experience points to a targeted bodyguard when used. So you can choose whom you want to give it to.
What’s the point? Leveling the bodyguards is a requirement for some content and achievements. For example, you must have provided the bodyguards with a total value of 3,000 experience points to complete the main quest line in Nazjatar.
Once Neri (Horde) or Akana (Alliance) reach level 20, you will also receive a mount as a gift – a cool snap dragon. The other companions give pets or toys. Finally, leveling the bodyguards is necessary to earn many achievements. This includes the meta achievement for Nazjatar, which is rewarded with a riding crab!

We hope you have good luck farming and leveling your companions quickly. How far have you leveled your bodyguards? Or do you just leave them alone?
