In the pre-event to Shadowlands, there are currently several rare mobs and bosses you can find in World of Warcraft. They have cool loot, such as the coveted Cursed Memorabilia. MeinMMO will tell you where you can find the bosses.
Update – November 17: The bosses now spawn every 10 minutes instead of every 20. This means you will get the rewards from the rare mobs twice as fast.
Original – What are these bosses? In Icecrown, rare enemies spawn regularly as preparation for the new expansion Shadowlands, which you must defeat as a group. These are bosses from various instances in Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK) that veterans will surely remember.
In line with the zombie plague that returns from the WotLK pre-event, these bosses also bring nostalgia. They reward you with the same loot they used to have back then, only adjusted for the new level 50.
Additionally, they offer some special loot items that you can only obtain during the event. They can be found all over Icecrown.
Locations and Coordinates of the Rare Mobs
Here you can find the bosses: The rare mobs are scattered all over Icecrown, but they always occupy the same positions. You can find a total of 20 of them at the following coordinates:
- Queen Lana’thel: 49.7 / 32.7
- Professor Putricide: Coordinates: 57.1 / 30.3
- Lady Deathwhisper: 51.1 / 78.5
- Skadi the Ruthless: 57.5 / 56.1
- Ingvar the Plunderer: 52.4 / 52.6
- Prince Keleseth: 54.0 / 44.7
- The Black Knight: 64.6 / 22.1
- Bronjahm: 70.7 / 38.4
- Scourgelord Tyrannus: 47.2 / 66.1
- Forgemaster Garfrost: 58.6 / 72.5
- Marwyn: 58.6 / 72.5
- Falric: 50.2 / 87.9
- The Prophet Tharon’ja: 50.2 / 87.9
- Novos the Summoner: 77.8 / 66.1
- Trollgrind: 58.3 / 39.4
- Krik’thir the Gatekeeper: 67.5 / 58.0
- Prince Taldram: 29.6 / 62.2
- Elder Nadox: 44.2 / 49.1
- North the Plague Lord: 31.6 / 70.5
- Patchwerk: 36.5 / 67.4 – The entrance to the cave is located at 34.4 / 68.5

How do I see the coordinates? The relevant coordinates are not displayed in the game itself. You need an addon for that. In our guide on MeinMMO, we present three addons that can display coordinates for you. If you’re only interested in determining the location, we recommend MapCoords, which you can find here on Curse.
When do the bosses spawn? The bosses appear in the above order and always at intervals of exactly ten minutes. Once a boss has appeared, it is not attackable for three minutes but already visible on the map.
After that, you can defeat it with a group. Due to the timing, the interval between spawns of the same boss is always 3 hours and 20 minutes. So if you’re after a specific boss, you need to be patient.
When a boss is active, you will also see it as a purple skull on the world map:
Cursed Memorabilia and Other Special Loot
What drops from the bosses: Each of the bosses drops armor and weapons they already had during WotLK. However, the new item level is 110, which is just below the level of loot from the heroic version of the final raid in Battle for Azeroth, Ny’alotha.
Some of the bosses also have special items with them, and all bosses share a loot pool with equipment and items they can have:
- Damaged Sword Hilt – Starts the quest line for the sword or mace Quel’Delar
- Pitch-black Plague Stones
- Cursed Memorabilia
Additionally, you have a chance to obtain the largest bag in the game from the boss Bronjahm and can possibly get a rare mount from Skadi the Ruthless. However, the cursed memorabilia are likely to be quite a sought-after loot.
What’s special about the Cursed Memorabilia? The memorabilia were introduced with the pre-event to WotLK. They have no real use and cannot be equipped.
However, anyone who has such a memorabilia in their pocket has a ghostly visage follow them around all the time. This is a purely cosmetic effect, which is quite popular among players.
Since the drop rate of the memorabilia was extremely low earlier and they have not been obtainable since, they reached high prices in the auction house. However, the chance with the bosses now is also only a few percent.
The pre-event also offers additional rewards aside from the bosses that you can earn through various currencies. In our article on MeinMMO, we show you what loot you should definitely get during the Shadowlands pre-event.
