Tyrande Whisperwind in World of Warcraft is getting a new model again. We show what the “new” Tyrande is all about.
Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination is finally on the way after many months of waiting. However, not all secrets are known yet, such as the 7-minute cinematics that we will see in the update. A small teaser shows a special highlight. The leader of the night elves is getting – once again – an update and shines in new splendor.
What was discovered? During a cinematic in Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination, Tyrande Whisperwind, the leader of the night elves and currently the Night Warrior, received a new model.
Where was the model discovered? Basically, the model is not hidden but openly visible. On the official WoW website, there is a small video clip playing in the background of the presentation for Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination. This resembles the update’s presentation trailer but has an additional mini-scene. A camera move around Tyrande Whisperwind, the Night Warrior.
It is quite possible that the scene comes from an earlier version of the official trailer and was not meant to be on the website.
What do you see there? The round trip essentially shows only Tyrande’s face and parts of her upper body. She still has the black eyes of the Night Warrior, but she has a lot of blue glowing lines around her tattoos. Her body seems to be, apart from the tattoos, covered with the patterns of the Night Fae.
How did the model come about? So far, there is only speculation, as the final cinematic has not yet been released. However, we already know that the Night Fae covenant is trying to save Tyrande from destruction. Her powers as the Night Warrior are becoming increasingly unstable and threaten to destroy her from within. Therefore, Tyrande – partly against her will – is subjected to a ritual to contain the destructive powers of Elune.
It is likely that after this, Tyrande is covered with these blue runes, which visually also resemble almost all anima effects of Ardenweald. Presumably, these symbols help to protect Tyrande from destruction.
What exactly this new model is about, we will probably learn in the days after June 30th – when Patch 9.1 is finally released.
