The latest patch of World of Warcraft is just on the PTR and is already causing excitement. The culprit is the racial bonuses of the Zandalari trolls.
The interim patch 8.1.5 of World of Warcraft is currently being actively tested. A long-awaited feature is the Zandalari trolls and the Kul Tirans, who are finally finding their way into the hands of players as playable allied races. However, after just one day on the PTR, there is an outcry among players, as the racial abilities of the Zandalari trolls are far too powerful.
These are the current racial abilities of the Zandalari:
- City of Gold: The gold looted from enemies is increased by 2%.
- Pterrordax Swoop: Reduces fall speed for 2 minutes. 15 minute cooldown.
- Regeneratin’: Regenerates 25% of your max health per second. Channeled for 4 seconds. 90 second cooldown.
- Embrace of the Loa: Choose one of the following passive effects (can be switched if needed, the values are for level 120):
- Embrace of Akunda: Your heals have a chance to heal a target for an additional 28,204.
- Embrace of Bwonsamdi: Your damage-dealing abilities have a chance to deal an additional 4653 shadow damage and heal you by that amount.
- Embrace of Gonk: Increases movement speed by 5%.
- Embrace of Kimbul: Your damage-dealing abilities have a chance to bleed the target for 13,961 damage over 6 seconds. This effect is stackable up to 3 times.
- Embrace of Krag’wa: When you take damage, you have a chance to gain 21,153 additional health and 3,525 armor for a few seconds.
- Embrace of Paku: Your abilities have a chance to grant you 5% additional crit chance for 12 seconds.
While “City of Gold” and “Pterrordax Swoop” are both not significant, both “Regeneratin'” and “Embrace of the Loa” are overwhelmingly powerful in all aspects. Imagine a raid composed solely of Zandalari trolls, who can fully heal themselves every 90 seconds – without healers. This could completely bypass many mechanics.
Blizzard needs to make adjustments: It is expected that the racial abilities of the new trolls will be significantly toned down. In their current state, they are virtually “mandatory” for pro raiders and overshadow all other racial bonuses of all races. Blizzard will likely not want such inequality, and adjustments are expected to be made soon.
