In the beta of WoW: Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard is a bit more relaxed. Players often get trolled!
Official statements from Blizzard employees are usually known for their political correctness and lack of humor. The statements are meant to be clear, understandable, and come across without much humor. In the beta test of World of Warcraft, things are a bit more relaxed, allowing the Game Masters and developers to have a little fun.
It seems that the developers are also enjoying the beta of Battle for Azeroth, as they allow themselves to play some pranks on their players.
The beta servers are regularly taken down to install new patches. Many players who are currently in dungeons panic about whether they can defeat the bosses in time. It certainly causes confusion when the messages about the server shutdown come in so rapidly:
Many players demand that finished characters at level 120 be made available to test the endgame content directly. Until now, one has to start at level 110. A server-wide message briefly caught the attention of interested players, only for them to roll their eyes in frustration after reading the server announcement:
“Characters at level 120 are available for all players. You just have to level them to level 120.”
Even in the eternal debate about “pineapple on pizza”, which flares up repeatedly in the trade channel, the GMs are happy to express their opinion. And how can you best provoke both camps? Right, simply by not being clearly for or against it and writing as a server message:
“My opinion on pineapple pizza is controversial. I like it, but I remove the pineapple before eating. I like the taste, but not the texture.”
It is nice to see that everything is a bit more relaxed in the beta.
Have you had any funny or entertaining encounters with a Game Master in World of Warcraft?
