A new leak regarding the next expansion of World of Warcraft is causing a stir. The “Avaloren” theory seems to be confirmed – and shows where the journey will soon go.
This year there have been relatively few leaks regarding the next expansion of World of Warcraft – but that has now changed. A new leak looks promising. Not only does the material seem “legit”, but the mentioned features and locations correspond to what has already been suspected months ago.
Where does the leak come from? Currently, the leak is circulating in the subreddit of World of Warcraft. The exact origin of the images cannot currently be determined. However, it is assumed that the leak originated from a Blizzard employee – at least that would explain where the images come from.
What kind of leak is this? The first leak is a compilation of 4 images that apparently come from the typical “feature trailer” of an expansion. Here, all the highlights of the expansion are usually presented.
The leak shows 4 individual images:
- The first image shows a foggy forest landscape with the caption: “New continent: Avaloren”.
- The second image shows a frosty region with a new type of dwarves.
- The third image shows a steppe with harpies and many rocks, visually resembling Vol’dun.
- The fourth image shows a jungle landscape and dinosaurs, which apparently seem to be elemental creatures.
Two particularly important details here are the two columns in the last image on the right and left edges. Because these columns are almost identical to those that Blizzard has already posted themselves. A few days ago, Blizzard showed some props that they are currently making in preparation for BlizzCon.
Exactly these columns can now also be seen in one of the images – which adds credibility to the leak.
What is Avaloren? Avaloren is a largely unknown continent on the other side of Azeroth. The Titans have kept the place secret from the mortal races. So far, hardly anyone has succeeded in exploring the other side of Azeroth – those who set out for it never returned.
It is to be expected that a completely own civilization has developed on Avaloren, which does not hold the Titans in high regard. At the same time, it is likely that the missing old god is native to Avaloren.
Avaloren and also Khaz Algar were already mentioned in Dragonflight. The night elf pirate “Nightsquall” is said to be the first and only one to have reached Avaloren so far.
How likely is that? As it stands, the leak looks quite convincing – if it is a fake, then someone has gone to great lengths. Avaloren has long been speculated as a target of the next expansion and the supposedly leaked images match with what Blizzard has already revealed.
The final truth, however, will only be revealed next week when BlizzCon 2023 takes place on November 3:
