It turns out that there’s a lot of story behind transmog items in World of Warcraft. Only with the right appearance will a certain orc become very talkative …
Many are now aware that there are many secrets hidden in World of Warcraft – at least they’ve picked up on it to some extent. However, how detailed some of these secrets are and what strange triggers they may have is not yet clear to everyone. Only a few days ago, new dialogues were found that provide more information about the Sword of Sargeras and the next expansion “The War Within”.
What are these weapon skins? The weapon skins belong to the “Arsenal: Cosmic Weapon Chest” and could be obtained through the Trading Post in November 2023. It includes weapons that resemble the look of the Sword of Sargeras. Some weapons also have an appearance reminiscent of the times of the Black Empire, incorporating influences from the Old Gods.
Where do you need to use the skins? To access the special dialogues, you need to equip your weapon with the correct transmogs and then travel to Silithus – specifically the “current” variant, meaning with the Sword of Sargeras. At the coordinates 40 / 77, you will find the Twilight Hermit. The orc was originally part of the “Battle for Azeroth” expansion – a quest from the island expeditions could be turned in to him.
Talk to him while wearing the weapons to reveal new dialogue options.

What do the weapons reveal? Depending on which weapon you have equipped, he has different things to say.
If you show up with “Gorridar, Darkblade of the Ripper” or “Siederas, Broadsword of the Ripper,” the Twilight Hermit says:
The weapon you carry… you should not have brought it!
I warned you before that the end time would come. The weapon you carry proves it.
It radiates the same power that flows through the blade of the Dark Titan.
Why did he attack this place? He was too masterful a tactician to choose this target by chance.
His cross weapon had the goal of eradicating all life from existence. Do you believe his final act, before he was captured by the Pantheon, would not serve this purpose?
Proceed carefully, [class], or you will find that you serve the same purpose.
If instead, you show up with “Taesavir, Sword of the Great Design” or “M’thorus, Dagger of the Great Design,” the Twilight Hermit has a different dialogue:
The weapon you carry… it desecrates this place!
Bringing such a weapon is like calling upon destruction itself, [class].
The Titans only care for their beloved order. They would sacrifice everything to achieve it – including their own followers.
Even the Dark Titan followed a structure in his actions. A cold logic, with the intent to impose his perfect vision and the willingness to erase existence if he could not achieve his goal.
Do you think the rest of his kind are different? Only in their methods, not in their goals.
Be careful not to become a blind part of their plan.
However, if you are equipped with “Void Song, Staff of the Herald,” he has a third dialogue.
Your staff… it whispers to me!
Do you have any idea how ancient this weapon you carry is, [class]?
There was a time when this entire world was ruled by the Black Empire. It was beautiful.
The masters granted their loyal subjects gifts. This staff was such a gift.
It was handed over to the Herald, so that one day… one day…
What? No! I didn’t want to tell them! I… I…
<The orc falls silent, as if scolded by an unseen presence.>
What does it all mean? Even though the orc’s words are largely cryptic and contain very little new information, they do confirm some things that have not been completely clear until now.
It now seems certain that Sargeras intentionally plunged the sword into Silithus and did not just randomly attack a place in despair. It also essentially confirms that Xal’atath, as a herald, is not another Old God but was already the herald back then and has a task that dates back many thousands of years.
Finally, once again, doubt is cast upon the Titans. In recent months, there have been increasing hints that the Titans only support us as long as we serve their plans – a narrative that at its core began with Algalon in “Wrath of the Lich King.”
Can you still obtain the weapon skins now? No, that is no longer possible. The transmog templates were the reward for completing the travel journal in November 2023. While it is likely that the templates will be available again at a later date, that is currently not possible.
