The “old” races in World of Warcraft could also get a cool Heritage Armor. At least, that is what the Game Director is thinking.
With the Allied Races, the developers of World of Warcraft have created a new incentive to create a fresh character and experience the revamped leveling in the old areas. Those who endure from level 20 to 110 without using a character boost will be rewarded at the end of the journey with a special armor set: the Heritage Armor.
However, the Heritage Armor is only available for the Allied Races, not for the whole “old” species, such as Humans, Orcs, or Pandaren.
During the developer Q&A a few days ago, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas spoke about this topic.
According to him, the goal was never for the Allied Races to feel “better” than the existing races. They just wanted to offer different options and character models to bring more diversity into the game world.
Heritage Armor for old races through special questlines
When asked by a player whether the old races would also receive special legacy armors, Hazzikostas explained that due to the strong desire of some fans, they are at least considering it.
So far, this is all just an idea from Hazzikostas and not a concrete plan: If the old races should also get Heritage Armor, they would be unlocked in a different way. After all, it would be somewhat pointless if your Tauren at level 120, whom you have been playing for 13 years, just received the armor. Instead, Hazzikostas is considering whether it would be cool to give each race a small questline, at the end of which they would receive the armor.
If these armors ever exist, they could also be introduced incrementally into the game. It could be conceivable, Hazzikostas says, that a patch brings the armors for Tauren and Night Elves, while a later patch brings the armors for other races.
This sounds like a perfect feature for smaller X.X.5 patches.
