Blizzard has clarified how the new legendary rings in World of Warcraft Patch 7.2.5 will be available – this may not please everyone.
With Patch 7.2.5 for World of Warcraft, there are again numerous new legendary items. Alongside some variations, the legendary rings are particularly in the spotlight, featuring very special properties. Wearing the corresponding ring does not grant an additional effect as usual with legendaries, but instead provides a completely new talent!
And even better: The rings adapt to the specialization. For example, if a Shadow Priest uses the ring, they will benefit in Holy and Discipline spec as well (potentially through other talents).
Because the rings have a special status, many players hoped that they would be available for the end of the Order campaign or a special quest line to the Tomb of Sargeras.
Old Systems for New Rings
Blizzard has since denied this and clarified that the rings will be available in the same way as all other legendary items: from loot boxes, from instance, raid, and world bosses, as well as through the tokens at the Broken Isles. Thus, the new rings are obtainable through the “old systems”.
In the official forums and on Reddit, players are not thrilled by this. Most find the rings too powerful and consider them as the “be-all and end-all” legendary, expected by every player in pro guilds. Without the ring, one would be virtually not raid-worthy, as an additional talent would grant such power.
Meanwhile, there are still minor bugs on the PTR. For instance, a Demon Hunter reports that they received the legendary ring of the Druids. Since the rings are “Bind on Pickup”, it is not possible to give them to other players – a clear bug. But that’s exactly what the PTR is for.
