The Bloodied Depths in World of Warcraft are being nerfed again. Is the dungeon now significantly easier to complete?
Coinciding with today’s maintenance work, Blizzard has also implemented a new hotfix that is supposed to make one of the toughest dungeons in WoW: Shadowlands a bit easier. The Bloodied Depths have received three nerfs that should make the experience a little more relaxed.
What has been changed? A total of three things have been changed that are now live:
- Devious Suppressor now casts the spell Soul Torment less frequently, and it has a casting time of 2 seconds (previously 1.5 seconds).
- Majestic Mist Dancer now casts Echoing Strike less frequently, and the damage has been reduced by 20%.
- General Kaal has 10% less health during the event in the last corridor.
What do the changes bring? Basically, they ensure that most groups in the Bloodied Depths are less lethal. Especially the Majestic Mist Dancers could become a problem at higher difficulty levels, as the Echoing Strike could not be interrupted as often. Gradually, the entire combat area became filled with echoes of the spell, making evasion nearly impossible.
The reduction of Kaal’s health during the event is also helpful, as it allows for quicker transitions from group to group. Since there are no breaks during the event and the entire group is permanently marked as “in combat,” the healer can never regenerate mana. A shorter event benefits everyone.
Were the nerfs necessary? Quite definitely. The Bloodied Depths, along with the dungeon “The Other Side,” have the reputation of being particularly tough. Many groups avoid these two dungeons on high key stones, as the combination of mechanics and tough trash mobs is quite challenging. Compared to other dungeons of similar difficulty, the two are considered particularly unpopular.
Even in Battle for Azeroth, a dungeon earned the reputation of being the “hardest” dungeon and was then avoided for almost the entire expansion, despite many nerfs.
Whether the Bloodied Depths will eventually become a favorite among players remains to be seen – as of today, some details are definitely easier and should allow for one or two small mistakes per run.
Do you find the adjustments good and meaningful? Should more have been changed? Or is the dungeon now way too easy?
Players are angry about a small sentence – it made them unhappy at BlizzCon.
