With a simple trick, World of Warcraft is trying to make PvP more enticing for players. A “70% bonus” should help.
PvP content in World of Warcraft is not for everyone. Some players cannot get used to the skirmishes and prefer PvE. Others find the entry barriers too high and face a long grind to obtain solid starting gear for PvP adventures. Blizzard is now addressing this by drastically increasing the amount of PvP currency earned.
What was the problem? Reaching the cap on Conquest points is a time-consuming task in WoW – especially if you do not start at the beginning of the season and want to join later. Players would have to complete up to 300 arena games to obtain the maximum Conquest points – too much, according to players and Blizzard. Therefore, there will be drastic increases now.
What has Blizzard done? A simple boost to the Conquest points earned. This PvP currency will be much easier to obtain with the upcoming server reboot (for us on 29.09.2021). All activities granting Conquest points will then provide 70% more of the resource.
This makes it much easier to reach the cap on Conquest points and thus get good gear faster to properly engage in PvP.
How are players reacting? Mixed. Some players are pleased with these changes and see it as a good incentive to engage with PvP or play some secondary characters. Opinions like these are expressed:
- “Basically, it’s just ‘Holy Moly’.”
- “What? Are they finally making this expansion twink-friendly, like they promised?”
- “At least they’re not waiting until patch 9.1.5 before they implement this.”
However, there are also voices that are more skeptical and believe that this is still far too little. Moreover, this change would coincide a bit too obviously with the release date of New World.
Will you take advantage of the incentive to dip your toes into PvP? Or has the change not managed to entice you into PvP?
