Patch 10.2 for World of Warcraft brings the final raid and gradually brings the end of Dragonflight. Those who have defeated the final boss of the raid will get to see a new cinematic. This has sparked discussions in the community.
Spoiler Warning: If you haven’t defeated the final boss in the latest raid or seen the cinematic yet, you will find out here how the story continues with the main characters from Dragonflight.
What kind of cinematic is it?
- Amirdrassil is the latest raid in World of Warcraft with Fyrakk as the final boss.
- After defeating Fyrakk, you need to speak with Alexstrasza again, to see the final cinematic.
- In the short cutscene, you see how the aspects regain their old powers that they had actually lost at the end of Cataclysm. We have embedded the cinematic here for you:
This is the criticism: The presentation of the cinematic is apparently displeasing to the community. It seems a bit like a “Saturday morning cartoon for kids,” which must promise particularly great morals.
In particular, one scene is causing anger: when Kalecgos talks about family. This moment has produced some memes, in which players connect the cinematic with a well-known scene from Fast & Furious with Vin Diesel, where family is also everything.
One user even shopped Vin Diesel’s face onto Kalec’s body, which… looks surprisingly fitting (via Reddit). On Reddit, there are more comparisons, such as with My Little Pony and its motto: Friendship (or here: Family) is Magic.
Other users believe that this kind of development has been evident for a long time. They criticize the story progression of Dragonflight in general and say that much has been lost from a strong start to the end.
“No wonder Blizzard treats you like kids”
In the comments, many fans view it much more differentiated than the creators of the threads. The fact that the dragons talk about family is just fitting to the story and the characters themselves:
- Kalecgos and the blue dragonflight have never known or have forgotten the feeling of family. Their entire story has revolved around it.
- For Alexstrasza as the “Mother of Dragons,” family is the most important thing of all, and it has been for years.
- Even the black dragons around Furorion and Sabellian have had this development, already before Dragonflight – even if here it is more of a: “Hey, no one but me can hit my brother!” family.
The story of the blue dragons was particularly praised when it was released. The fact that this has now been forgotten shows the fans only that the community itself doesn’t really know what they want.
Users say: If you forget what happened before a patch, you shouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard treats the players like children. Others do not envy the writers for their job: “Their job is damn hard with this audience.”
A community that skips all quest texts and dialogues cannot be satisfied with any story. Nevertheless, some users also admit here that at least the presentation could have been better.
