When it comes to drama surrounding World of Warcraft, no project has been as successful as the guild “OnlyFangs”. Here, streamers have come together to experience entertaining adventures in the hardcore version of World of Warcraft. After many months of planning, they finally headed into the raid “Molten Core”.
The chaos was perfect. The guild leader was abandoned by his teammates and lost his character permanently.
What is happening in WoW HC? In the hardcore version, much revolves around the streamer guild OnlyFangs. Well-known content creators play their characters in roleplay and try to reach level 60 first and then conquer the raids. This often leads to interesting intrigues, moral conflicts, or discussions about how to behave in a dangerous moment. Particularly the incidents with PirateSoftware sparked numerous discussions that made the streamer appear in a different light for many viewers. From time to time, the guild leadership is also challenged in a duel against a noob.
What happened now? After many months of preparation, the guild OnlyFangs finally had enough characters ready to tackle the raid “Molten Core”. Under the leadership of the raid and guild leader Tyler1, they made good progress – until the boss Baron Geddon. The fight then spiraled out of control, and just before the boss was defeated, several guild characters died – including the tank and guild leader.
How did the death occur? Like almost all bosses in World of Warcraft Classic, Baron Geddon is theoretically not a complex fight. There are only a few mechanics to be aware of – primarily the bomb and inferno. With the bomb, individual characters must be separated from the group, while melee fighters must distance themselves from the boss due to increasing damage dealt in close proximity.
Baron Geddon was already at low health points when Tyler1 decided to continue the fight. A large part of the raid had already retreated to avoid the effects of the fight, when Tyler1 announced to charge into the battle to finish it.
However, many in the raid were hesitant and evidently feared for their character. As a result, not enough damage was dealt, and more and more ticks of inferno hit the melee fighters.
The final damage tick that ultimately defeated Baron Geddon was too much for many from OnlyFangs – a total of 7 characters bit the digital dust and are dead. Forever. Because in hardcore WoW, there is no resurrection, and one has to start over upon failure.

Even Blizzard commented on X regarding what they think of the actions of the members at OnlyFangs. The World of Warcraft account writes:
“Ah, NOW the DPS decides not to stand in the fire …”
The community also celebrates the incident and engages in lively discussions about it. While some heavily criticize Tyler1’s approach – such as activating “Death Wish”, which also increases damage taken – there are many who welcome Tyler’s decision and mock how many in the raid group stayed away out of fear.
However, most seem to agree that Tyler1 made a wrong decision here. They should have retreated – and the outcome is now the consequence of this mistake.
It is clear that OnlyFangs was created for such dramatic stories. Therefore, the raid groups are mostly mixed. Only a part of the characters are true veterans in WoW Classic, many others are basically newcomers – and exactly that leads to such entertaining and educational moments as here: In WoW Classic, there are many mechanics that can quickly lead to one’s own death – such as the dreaded blood of heroes.
