The Panthara on Argus do not want to be tamed. This small guide reveals how to get the creature in World of Warcraft.
For several days now, the Content Patch 7.3 Shadows of Argus has been live in World of Warcraft. Although not much has survived on the home world of the Eredar under the green fire of the Burning Legion, a few species are holding up well. Among them are new wild animals that can be tamed by hunters – at least when you know how it works.
Most animals can be tamed without any issues, but not the Panthara. These feline-like creatures appear “bugged” at first glance when you try to bind them as a hunter.
However, that is not the case. They simply evade taming and escape the spell! But how can you tame the Panthara then?
Taming Panthara in WoW
The trick is simple, but requires a great deal of luck or perseverance.
There are various Talbuks running around Argus of the species “Cliffwalker”. There are Wild Cliffwalkers, Armored Cliffwalkers, Cliffwalker mounts… and so on. They are scattered all over Argus and have a low chance of leaving the item Fresh Talbuk Meat. This item can be thrown to a target location upon use.
The drop chance is currently listed as 1-2%, so it may take a while for you to obtain the meat.
Once you have the meat, find a Panthara of your choice and make sure no other players are nearby who could kill the creature.
- Now throw an Ice Trap and freeze the Panthara.
- Approach the Panthara without breaking the trap and use Feign Death.
- Wait until the Panthara is “reset”.
- Throw the meat in front of the Panthara’s snout while you are still feigning death.
- Start taming the creature from feigning death.
Bam, you should have your own Panthara by now!

Some players report that taming seems to be a bit bugged at the moment. It is therefore possible that you may need to farm the meat multiple times to bring the creatures under your control.
Have you caught a Panthara? Or do you find the new creatures ugly?
