For several months now, Blizzard has been working on making old content from World of Warcraft accessible again, which otherwise has fallen victim to time. The old Scholomance, the old Naxxramas, and even Zul’Gurub are available again. Now the Scarlet Monastery has also made it back. We will tell you how to unlock the old Scarlet Monastery.
How do you unlock the Scarlet Monastery? Unlocking without outside help is only possible during the “Hallow’s End” event. You need to sign up for a fight against the Headless Horseman using the Dungeon Finder. From the daily reward chest, you can, with some luck, receive a “The Scarlet Key.” Your chances increase with the Hardmode.
With this key in your inventory, you now go to the Scarlet Monastery in Tirisfal. In the entrance area of the monastery, near the instance portals, you can now see a keyring on the wall that grants a quest.
Once you have completed the quest, you can choose whether you want to visit the old or the new Scarlet Monastery using this key.
Can you unlock it after Hallow’s End? Yes, that is possible. However, you will be dependent on players who already have access to the old monastery. In the chest of Arcanist Doan in the old version, additional keys may be included. These can then be sold or given to other players.
If in doubt, just take a look at the auction house. It is likely that many keys are available there that you can get for a small amount of gold.
However, note that each account can only loot one additional key from Doan’s chest. You cannot “farm” the keys.
What does it bring? In the old versions of the monastery, there are a number of rewards that can no longer be found in the game. These are primarily unique transmogs that have been lost over time – especially with the revamp in “Cataclysm”.
