The most famous “WoW Grandma” has been streaming on Twitch for 14 days – and there is no end in sight.
There are as many streamers for World of Warcraft as there is sand on the beach. But only a handful of them really stick in your memory. One of them is “WoWGrandma78”, whom we reported about a while ago. In the meantime, the good lady is a proud 80 years old and is still thriving in the streaming business. Therefore, she has also succumbed to one of the current trends – and initiated a “subathon”.
For almost 14 days, WoWGrandma78 has been live – and there is no end in sight.
What kind of content does she produce? Primarily World of Warcraft, and that even at a level quite high for her age. Time and again, she is with groups that either complete raids or dare to venture into “Mythic+” dungeons. Currently, she mainly visits Mythic +15 to Mythic +17 keystones, healing successfully and completing many of them within the time limit with her group. Her item level on her two druids (she plays Horde and Alliance) is currently 263 and 267 – which is quite high considering the patch has only been live for a few weeks.
So, anyone who is not yet quite skilled with the healing druid in M+ can probably still pick up a trick or two from her.
Aside from that, she also tells a lot about her life and gives her viewers practical tips – for example, how to deal with setbacks, parenting advice, or simply anecdotes from her life.
If she is currently online, you can follow her stream here:
Does she stream continuously? No. Even though it is a “subathon”, the “WoW Grandma” takes occasional breaks – mainly to sleep, cook, or walk her dogs. Aside from that, she is quite frequently online, and no one seems to hold the small breaks against her. She herself says that she only needs about 4 ½ hours of sleep per night, which makes her breaks relatively short.
How long is the subathon going? Currently, there seems to be no end in sight. Each completed channel subscription increases the stream duration by 3 minutes, while a donation of 100 bits adds another minute. At the time of this article, the clock shows still 21 hours remaining – but that can quickly change with new subscriptions.
The stream is intended to be purely positive: A special feature of the stream is how heartfelt it is – whether from the streamer herself or from the chat. The community is friendly and helpful, and occasionally Mythic keys are even completed by viewers. Generally, the stream has a very positive atmosphere, as also reflected in the channel description:
This stream believes in uplifting people and supporting them in their WoW ventures, whether by taking them into viewer keys, helping with dungeons, being a support for new players, or just providing a nice place if hanging out is your thing.
What do you think of “WoWGrandma78”? A cool thing to still live so much in the “modern” world of gamers at this age and to be active on Twitch? Or does that just not fit together?
