Some play World of Warcraft simply “differently”. The goblin Nobb does not want to leave his home – he reaches level 50 on Kezan.
Now and then, we report on players who level up in unique ways. The most famous player of this kind is probably Doubleagent, a Pandaren who has never left the starting island and farms herbs or completes pet battles there for hundreds of hours. However, there is a copycat who has thrown even more obstacles in his path. The goblin Nobb has never left Kezan.
What has he done? The goblin Nobb did not flee from the starting island of Kezan like all his other green colleagues at level 4 or 5, but stayed – he simply never completed the final quest. Since then, he has been leveling in his own way on Kezan. Since the island is only accessible for a few levels and afterward you usually reach another island, there are also no herbs or ores here.
Nevertheless, Nobb has managed to reach level 50 on the starting island.
How did he do it? From the very beginning, Nobb killed the tunnel worms. They are one of the few types of mobs that exist on the island. They give solid experience points and can be killed almost endlessly – at least as long as they grant XP.
To reach level 30, he actually used a trick. His account was still a “Starter Account” at that time. When starter accounts reach level 20, they can no longer level up. However, accumulated experience is still saved and “paid out” once the starter account is converted into a paid account. This way, Nobb could gather enough XP to immediately level from 20 to 30.
After that, he completed 5 pet battle quests every day, which he carried out on another character, but collected the XP with Nobb. This works because many pet battle quests are account-wide active.
At level 39, he reached his first milestone. From then on, the hunter could learn to tame exotic animals. After killing 5,000 tunnel worms, he could finally tame two of them and now has them as companions.
Now he has reached level 50 and is significantly slowed down in his efforts.
Next level takes over 40 days: With increasing level comes increasing difficulty, as the sources of XP become fewer and only yield a small amount of experience points.
The journey from level 50 to 51 is particularly exhausting. Because from level 50 onwards, the Shadowlands scaling applies, where experience from old content is drastically reduced. Quests that previously awarded 8,000 experience points now yield only about 1,000 XP.
Accordingly, Nobb has already calculated that he will need between 43 and 44 days to reach level 51. If the pace continues, he will need more than a year of daily play to reach the magical level 60. Then he would be the first goblin at max level who has never left the starting island Kezan.
Kezan is, similar to the starting island of the Pandaren, one of the few places to which one can never return once they have left it. Therefore, it is a very special achievement to spend the entire time here and experience only a fraction of Azeroth.
What do you think of this achievement? Is it a cool thing that shows perseverance? Or is it a waste of time without any benefit?
