Currently, most players in World of Warcraft are in “Legion Remix”, the reboot of the Legion expansion. There are numerous cosmetic rewards waiting, and new characters can be leveled up in no time. However, a high item level is necessary to collect bronze in large quantities. The higher your item level, the faster the enemies fall.
Our guide shows you how to increase your character’s item level to the maximum of 740 in just a few days.
How to increase item level in Legion Remix? During the leveling phase, your item level automatically increases when you receive rewards. Whether from quests, dungeons, or raids – all items are always suitable for your level, and almost every item should be an upgrade for you.
This changes, however, at level 80. Once you reach level 80, there is a first item level plateau at around 584. Rewards from chests will then only grant items of this level, and an increase this way is no longer possible.
How to increase item level the fastest? To increase your item level above the plateau of 584 at level 80, there are several options. Because from various sources, you will receive items that are slightly better than what you are currently wearing – and this applies up to a maximum of 740:
- All raids, both on LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic.
- Epic reward chests for the “Endless Research” quests at the Bazaar, from the 1st random dungeon of the day (both difficulties), and the daily faction chest for world quests.

Example: If you are currently wearing item level 584, a raid boss will drop loot with item level 587 to 593 for you. If you already have item level 640, the boss will drop loot that is around 646. This way, your item level increases naturally, piece by piece.
Maximize efficiency in Legion Remix: Here’s how you should proceed
If you want to get the highest item level in a short time, you should strictly follow a clear plan.
It’s important to know:
- Absolutely every quest, no matter how small and insignificant, grants a green reward box from which you can obtain equipment.
- The contents of the green reward boxes depend on the level you had when you received the box. Therefore, a box that you received at level 20 will contain equipment for level 20. It is not worth saving boxes for later.
As a result: You should save as many story and zone quests as possible and only complete them at level 80. This way you get the “good” boxes for level 80 from every quest. You want to have these in large quantities because they not only contain equipment for level 80 but also “Particles of Broken Time”. You can combine 10 of these particles into a new item that will increase your item level.
These particles will also be dropped by mobs in the “Heroic World”. Activate the Heroic World at the latest when you reach item level 600, then you should have no problems there.
The plan for the best gear
This results in the following plan to obtain good equipment with maximum speed:
- Visit normal and heroic dungeons at level 80 until you have an item level of around 590.
- Activate the Heroic World and only complete quests in it.
- Continuously complete the repeatable “Endless Research” quests and immediately get new ones until the limit is reached.
- Visit all raids every day on all difficulty levels.
- Visit a random normal and a heroic dungeon every day for the epic reward box.
- Complete quests and world quests during the waiting times.
Are dungeons worth it on M+? Generally: No, not for gearing up. There is a special rule in “Mythic+” because the item level of the reward from the completion chest is based solely on the level of your keystone. However, this is typically not realistic. To get good gear from Mythic+, you need a group that generally has higher gear than what you can obtain from the dungeons.
This may change during the different phases of Legion Remix, but currently, we advise against using Mythic+ as a source for gear in Remix.
How long does gearing take? That primarily depends on how strictly you follow this plan. If you visit all raids on all difficulties every day, you should reach the maximum item level of 740 within no more than 10 days. While this is not absolutely necessary for the contents of Legion Remix, you will be extremely overpowered and can farm bronze even faster.
