Boredom in World of Warcraft? A goofy Orc is going his own way and gaining many fans.
No matter how big a new expansion for World of Warcraft may be, sooner or later daily life always takes over. You farm artifact power, visit one or two dungeons, and pass the time until the next raid. Variety quickly becomes the routine.
Sometimes it can be worth starting completely over and viewing World of Warcraft from a totally different perspective.
Not from the player’s perspective, but from the character’s perspective. That’s what the person behind the Twitter account of Gromogg thought. As a somewhat goofy Orc, he tweets every day from the Orc’s perspective about what he has experienced in World of Warcraft today. As befits an Orc, he makes extensive use of capital letters, and his grammar doesn’t exactly come from the school of elite Thralls.
“BRING DEVIL AMMUNITION TO DRAAKA, SHE WANTS GENERAL TO KNOW. GROMMOG SEES HOW HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF. ASHAMED.”
Experiencing WoW from a completely new perspective seems to appeal to many players, as Gromogg is slowly gathering more and more followers and is already getting visits from fans in the game. Anyone looking for a “fresh” look at Azeroth should browse through Gromogg’s tweets. Sometimes a lot of beauty lies in the small things.
Cortyn says: I’m sure I’m repeating myself, but all players who find World of Warcraft boring in the traditional way should simply experience the game as role-players. You can then spend much, much more time in Azeroth without getting bored.
From the perspective of an NPC, WoW can also be quite interesting – at least in Suramar “The Last Layer”.
