The drop rates for loot in the Castle Nathria raid of WoW have been improved. We tell you how much loot you can really expect.
Raiding felt un rewarding in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands for many players. Usable loot was too rare, and there were too few items in general from the raid. A hotfix has ensured that there is more loot from Castle Nathria with today’s maintenance (02/17/2021).
What has changed? All bosses in Castle Nathria now leave behind 33% more loot. This should mean one more item per boss for most raid groups. Additionally, the tokens exchanged for weapons at the Covenant Sanctum will drop more frequently. So, for those still looking for a good weapon, a visit to the raid should now be worthwhile.
What does this mean in detail? Depending on the raid size, there is now more loot from individual bosses. The following table breaks down exactly how many items you can expect from a boss kill. Each additional player essentially adds a 20% chance for another item.
| Number of Players in the Raid | Loot per Boss |
| 10 | 2 items |
| 11 | 80% chance of 2 items 20% chance of 3 items |
| 12 | 60% chance of 2 items 40% chance of 3 items |

| 16 | 80% chance of 3 items 20% chance of 4 items |
| 17 | 60% chance of 3 items 40% chance of 4 items |

| 29 | 20% chance of 5 items 80% chance of 6 items |
| 30 | 6 items |
In the mythic Castle Nathria, however, every boss drops 4 items without exception.
Is there anything for dungeons? Yes, but only in the next update, patch 9.0.5. While the drop rate of items from “Mythic+” will not be increased, there will be a new currency, Valor Points. These can then be collected and used to upgrade items from dungeons, making them significantly more lucrative. Of course, this assumes that you actually get these items in the first place. With 1-2 items per completed dungeon, this could take a while, which is currently being criticized by many players.
Will you dive back into the raid starting today? Or does the change have almost no impact on your gaming plans?
What else is changing in WoW soon is something we will find out at the BlizzConline on Friday.
