With Patch 7.2, flying returns to WoW. The requirements have been significantly relaxed on the PTR.
One of the most eagerly awaited features of the next patch of World of Warcraft is flying on the Broken Isles. With Patch 7.2 “Tomb of Sargeras”, players will once again be able to quickly traverse distances on the Broken Isles on their flying mounts.
To unlock flying, a series of achievements must be completed. The first part is “Pathfinder of the Broken Isles (Part 1)”, which can already be accomplished in the game.
The second part of this achievement can only be completed with Patch 7.2 and has had rather tough requirements involving a lot of farming and grinding. For instance, you had to be revered with the Legionfall faction and collect more than 50,000 Nethe shards on the Broken Coast (the new area).
The requirements for flying in WoW Patch 7.2
In the official forum, Blizzard has commented on the new requirements and listed what needs to be done to obtain the flying ability.
- Complete Pathfinder of the Broken Isles Part 1
- Fully explore the Broken Coast
- Defender of the Broken Coast: Complete a demon invasion (including scenario) in each of the 4 zones
- Reach respectful status with the Armies of Legionfall faction
One step required players to collect 50,000 Nethe shards. This quest step has since been drastically simplified, and now only 2,500 shards are needed. When you want to complete the quest, Khadgar even remarks that he only needs one and has no use for the remaining 2,499. Just an archmage.
No release date for Patch 7.2 and thus the flying ability has been announced yet.
What rewards the new faction Legionfall offers, we will reveal here.
