In the fantasy MMORPGs Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft players spontaneously came together last night to commemorate the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris.
Even though MMO players are often said to escape reality: The reality with its atrocities cannot be ignored. After the bloody events last night in Paris people spontaneously gathered in games like Final Fantasy XIV or World of Warcraft to remember the victims, to be together, to somehow express their solidarity.
From the Final Fantasy server Balmung, it is said on reddit, “Balmung is with Paris.” In World of Warcraft, players gathered on the Argent Dawn server.
