If you want to call yourself a Field Medic in World of Warcraft, you should hurry. Because the necessary steps take time – and time is running out. We show you in our WoW guide how to become a Field Medic.
With the upcoming expansion Battle for Azeroth, some professions in World of Warcraft will be reworked. The profession of First Aid will even disappear completely, and the associated recipes will be transferred to tailoring and alchemy, meaning some game content will no longer be available.
Corresponding achievements will also be moved to the “Legacy” tab and will no longer be obtainable. This also means that the cool title “Field Medic” will no longer exist once Patch 8.0 goes live! Since Battle for Azeroth already releases on August 14, Patch 8.0 will likely be released 2-4 weeks prior – so time is of the essence.
That’s why we have written a small guide for you to effectively farm the title. After all, the title is account-wide – if you earn it with one character, all others can use it as well.
How to become a Field Medic in World of Warcraft?
To obtain the title Field Medic (in German “Feldsanitäter”), you only need to complete all the “First Aid” quests from Legion.
What sounds simple is complicated by the fact that these quests cannot be accepted and completed in order as is the case with other professions. Instead, the quest starter items must be painstakingly farmed, as they only drop in specific areas.
There are a total of 16 quests, and thus also 16 quest starter items that need to be farmed.
Almost all items drop randomly in their respective areas. However, there are a few particularly good farming spots where enemies either have a higher drop chance or respawn almost immediately, so there are no downtimes while farming.
All materials for the Field Medic
To complete the quests, you almost always need field bandages (which you can buy in the “First Aid” shop in Dalaran) and other First Aid items. Here is a list of all required items:
- 44 Field Bandages
- 15 Silk Bandages (15 Shal’dorei silk)
- 15 Silver Salves (75 Silver Mackerel)
- 14 Silk Splints (84 Shal’dorei silk, 15 Leystone ore)
Quest items in Suramar

The perfect farming spot in Suramar is located at the entrance to the Moonwatch Fortress at coordinates 31 / 18. The Nightborne can be killed quickly and have a specific spawn interval: as soon as enough enemies are defeated, new ones automatically appear. There is no waiting time for respawns, as it solely depends on your farming speed.

The Vrykul and Murlocs northeast of Valdisdall are great for farming, especially around the quarry where there are many Vrykul. Due to the sheer number of mobs, there should be hardly any downtimes when farming.

The best place to farm is at the kobold cave near Skyhorn, at coordinates 55 / 45. The kobolds respawn quickly and have low health, making them a perfect farming option.
Quest items in Val’sharah

Particularly good drop chances seem to come from the Furbolgs at the Ruins of the Dreaming, far to the south of Val’Sharah.
Note: All quest starters from Azsuna can also drop from the Murlocs in Val’sharah on the island “The Dimming Reef”. If you still need items from both areas, this island is recommended.

In Azsuna, there are several possible farming spots. The Murlocs at the western shore of the central lake are numerous and easy to farm. Alternatively, you can also farm well from the Black Sail pirate in the southeast.
Note: All quest starters from Azsuna can also drop from the Murlocs in Val’sharah on the island “The Dimming Reef”. If you still need items from both areas, this island is recommended.
General tips for farming the Field Medic
Finally, here are a few important notes:
- Even though the title is account-wide, the individual quests are not. You must complete all quests on one character to unlock the title.
- For many quests, you will need high-level First Aid items. The necessary materials to quickly raise the profession to 800 can almost always be found cheaply in the auction house on any server.
- Use groups for farming whenever possible – but no raids! The quest items only drop in groups of a maximum of 5 people.
- Some players report that you can only have one quest active at a time (even though this is disputed) – to be safe, always complete the quests immediately.
- Use the buff food “Bear Tartare”, which gives you a speed buff after each kill. This allows you to farm even faster.
