Honor Badges in World of Warcraft are needed for many sets. We reveal how to get honor badges.
Honor badges (“Mark of Honor”) are one of the most important resources in World of Warcraft – at least if you are into appealing armor sets for transmogrification. The badges are valid across several expansions and can be used to purchase numerous items, whether from the “Vanilla” era or the latest expansion “Shadowlands,” and even the “Dragonflight” sets will eventually be in the system.
But how do you quickly get honor badges? Are there ways to obtain honor marks without PvP? We reveal everything important about this currency.
All Methods to Farm Honor Badges
You can earn honor badges in various ways. Not all of them are directly related to PvP, although this is where you will clearly earn the most.
Rewards from Battlegrounds and Arenas: You can receive honor badges for successfully completing PvP battlegrounds and arenas. Whether you emerge as a winner or loser from the fight, the reward chests can contain honor badges – the chance is higher with a victory.
Buying Honor Badges for Honor: If you have too many honor points from PvP fights, you can buy 5 honor badges directly for 2,000 honor each. This still works (even now in Dragonflight) in the capital of Shadowlands, Oribos. The NPC “Supplier Zo’kuul” in the Enclave sells you the “Orboreal Award” for 2,000 honor, which contains 5 honor badges. This purchasing option is one of the most reliable ways to quickly obtain many honor badges. However, note that the NPCs are only present if you have completed the introductory questline for Shadowlands.
Honor Badges for World Quests: Currently, during the “Dragonflight” expansion, you can earn two additional honor badges every day – all without engaging in PvP. You just need to activate the War Mode (Stormwind or Orgrimmar) and then keep an eye out for the two PvP world quests on the Dragon Isles. You can recognize the quests by the crossed swords symbol.
Although these are “PvP world quests,” these missions can usually be completed without PvP combat. While PvP is an option to complete the mission, there are always alternatives, such as killing mobs. Sometimes it is simply a large elite enemy that needs to be defeated – in that case, just join a group. Especially if you play at “unusual” times, you are unlikely to find hostile players in the relevant areas – and even if you do, many will likewise just want to peacefully complete the quest.
Unlike other world quests, the PvP world quests refresh every 24 hours. In the best case, you can earn up to 14 marks per week by completing these quests. Since honor badges are account-bound, you can also complete the quests with multiple characters and then consolidate them on one character. Please note that the PvP world quests in Dragonflight always grant one honor badge, even if that is not indicated as a quest reward in the overview.
Spending Honor Badges – What Can You Buy with Them?
Honor badges are the universal currency for “old” PvP gear and even some mounts. These rewards generally do not have any gameplay use anymore, but they still bring some options for transmogrification and can sometimes grant achievements. Since there are some of the most beautiful sets in PvP, many characters may want to take a look at the old sets.
For each expansion, there is one (or even several) PvP vendors who sell you the old sets. Where the sets are sold varies depending on the expansion. Just ask a guard in the respective capital of the desired expansion and let them guide you to the vendor. You can usually buy individual items or a whole ensemble at a discounted price. With around 12 badges, you can already buy a whole set. Weapon transmogs usually cost significantly more – here a whole set can cost up to 80 badges.
If someone wants to own all PvP sets, they should plan a lot of time – because they will likely need several thousand honor badges.
Do you need to be good at PvP to get honor badges? This is one of the biggest misconceptions among PvE players. To get honor badges, you practically don’t need any understanding of PvP. If it’s just about a handful of badges, you can simply farm them diligently or, in the case of PvP world quests, even completely without PvP combat.
