The reputation farming in World of Warcraft is disliked by many players. They believe that reputation should be account-wide.
One of the long-term activities in World of Warcraft is farming reputation. With each new expansion and most content patches, there are new reputation factions that entice players with rewards. Whether it’s strong gear, crafting recipes, or beautiful tabards, there’s something for every character.
But that’s exactly the problem. Since there’s something for every character, every character has to farm reputation anew. Those who play more than one hero and like to occasionally play their twinks must farm reputation over and over again.
Reputation divides the community
Therefore, part of the community has long been demanding: Reputation should be account-wide, meaning it should apply equally to every character.
- After all, the task is extremely repetitive and other aspects of the game, like honor, are also account-wide.
- Players are discouraged from trying out new characters, which limits the game.
However, there are also representatives from the other side who bring up some counterarguments.
- If reputation were account-bound, players with multiple characters could farm it faster. Of course, those who complete nine world quests on three characters instead of three world quests on one character would become exalted faster.
- Earned rewards would lose their value and exclusivity if every twink could buy everything.
- General progress also argues against it. If a fresh character at level 120 could immediately equip themselves with the best reputation rewards, that would be a significant advantage.
