Images show the Witcher actor Henry Cavill as the Warcraft villain Arthas. He has now responded to it and seems to like the idea.
We talked a few days ago about an image that would fit Henry Cavill, the actor behind the Witcher, quite well in the role of Arthas. Even some Blizzard employees seemed to really like this idea. In the meantime, the topic has gained more traction on social media – more and more images are popping up and even the first reactions from the actor can be found.
Who is Henry Cavill? Henry Cavill is a fairly well-known actor. Most probably know him as Superman or from the series “The Witcher”. Cavill is at heart a real gaming nerd: He almost missed his Superman role because at the time of the call he was in a WoW raid and therefore had no time to answer the phone.
What has happened now? After the first image of Cavill as Arthas, Reddit “did its thing” and took it to the next level. Numerous other images followed, which were mostly significantly less elaborate and not so serious. Most of these are images of Cavill’s face simply pasted onto various Warcraft heroes – no matter how inappropriate that might look.
One image, however, manipulated a teaser image for the new season of the Witcher series, and Henry Cavill even took notice of it.
The actor commented on the image on Instagram with a questioning smiley and tagged Blizzard. For many, this is a clear indication that Cavill would apparently feel comfortable in the role.
Will this become a film or a series? Whether what has so far only become a big fan wish and a meme on social media will one day become a reality remains to be seen. However, interest in a film adaptation of the Arthas storyline – whether as a feature film or series – seems to be large among the WoW player base. The fitting nerd actor is already there … now it seems only the rest is missing.
Do you also want this story to come true and be able to see Arthas’ story someday as a film or series? Or has the first Warcraft film shown that this franchise is better off sticking to games?
