Over 1000 hours were put into this video by a fan to honor two of the coolest sets from World of Warcraft – and to show off their skills. Rightly so.
Players of World of Warcraft are known for putting a little extra time into fan projects. However, this video may set a new record for passion, at least when considering pure time. A YouTuber worked over 1000 hours on a video showcasing two item sets from the expansion Wrath of the Lich King.
So much work went into this: According to the YouTuber Dr Phil, he dedicated almost 1300 hours to the creation of the video. That’s more than 54 days of pure working time. The majority of the time was spent on the “recreation” of the two Tier 8 sets that players may still remember from the times of Wrath of the Lich King.
They are the “Scourgestalker” and Siegebreaker sets, which were very popular among chain and plate wearers. The corresponding gear in various colorations can primarily be obtained in Ulduar and is still a popular transmog set today.
In general, there have been many ideas lately to repackage WoW in prettier graphics:
- You can see Ironforge in beautiful Unreal Engine 4 with a bit too much light here
- You can see the Duskwood in beautiful graphics here
- Westfall in a new look is also included
What does the video show? Essentially, the video is easy to explain, as there is no story. It is more of a showcase of what Dr Phil has accomplished. An Orc woman and a Human first walk down a corridor clad only in underwear. Gradually, their clothing materializes, forming the popular sets from WoW’s second expansion.
The sets are significantly more detailed than in the original, and one can clearly see how much work went into their creation. It’s worth setting the video to the highest resolution and pausing now and then.
Could you imagine putting 1300 hours into such a project? And what do you think of the video?
