You should not miss the remake of the “Fall of the Lich King” from World of Warcraft. The creators surpass Blizzard’s quality by far.
When the Lich King was implemented as a boss in World of Warcraft in 2009, the WoW team was still in some ways in its infancy. Especially in terms of in-game cinematics, the developers had little experience up to that point. Although there were trailers for the patches, in the game, there was only the Wrathgate cinematic.
It is therefore not surprising that the cinematic “Fall of the Lich King” has not aged well. Fans have now gifted the video a remake and thus far exceed Blizzard’s level.
What can be seen: The YouTube channel of Pivotal has taken on the video “Fall of the Lich King”. It covers the final moments of the Lich King Arthas after he has been defeated by the heroes and dies. His father, Terenas Menethil, appears as a ghost and explains to Tirion Fordring that there must always be a Lich King.
The one marked by the fire of dragons, Bolvar, takes on this burden and becomes the new Lich King, who plays a larger role in later expansions – such as in Legion, where he is the driving force behind the death knight players.
We already introduced Pivotal in another video, which was also extremely impressive.
The remake is of high quality, and the models used as well as the lip sync are significantly better than in Blizzard’s original – which is already nearly 11 years old.
Here is the original for comparison:
Content will soon be relevant again: The content of the video is currently more relevant than ever. The fact that there must always be a Lich King will once again play a significant role with the pre-event of “Shadowlands”. Because there the Scourge loses its Lich King, which results in the undead rampaging and invading the lands of Azeroth. Players must fight them back before they themselves plunge into the Shadowlands.
What do you think of the remake of this video? Impressive and cool? Or is it worse than Blizzard’s original?
