The prices in World of Warcraft are rising. The cause are bots that exploit a new method and become incredibly rich.
Gold is still an important resource in World of Warcraft. Whether it’s about repair costs, buying a new mount, or paying for the subscription with a WoW token. For this reason, the actually forbidden sale of gold remains a problem in the game – especially because bots continually find new methods to gather a lot of gold.
What is this exploit? The exploit allows characters to defeat numerous enemies in the blink of an eye, which are actually well below their level. However, these enemies still drop loot as if they were level 70. This means that the bot loots the loot from several dozen level 70 creatures every few seconds, even though it is actually killing creatures that are more than 20 levels below it.
We won’t explain exactly how the exploit works, and we strongly advise against using it. When Blizzard fixes these exploits, all accounts that have exploited them are usually punished – and this can lead to permanent account closure.
Although Blizzard has already fixed parts of this exploit, clever players – and also the bot operators – have already found ways for the exploit to still work in other areas with a bit more effort.
An outdated, now patched version of the exploit can be seen here:
How much can one earn with the exploit? Even though the exploit partly depends on drop luck, it results in about a profit of 1,200,000 gold per day, if the bot runs continuously for 24 hours.
This also means that the costs for creating an account are recouped extremely quickly with this exploit. In less than 24 hours, the bot operator has already covered the costs for the account, and from then on, everything is profit.
Typically, Blizzard bans bots in waves, so several weeks may pass before action is taken against such bots.
What is the problem with these exploits? The amount of gold in World of Warcraft has a direct impact on prices in the game, such as the WoW token. In the US region of the game, the price recently climbed to a new high of 353,000 gold. Many players see the exploitation of the aforementioned exploits as a reason for the increasingly soaring prices.
In the long term, such a massive influx of gold can also drive up the prices of all other items in the game. This was particularly noticeable before in WoW Classic, where individual herbs were sometimes sold for 500 gold.
