The Maw in WoW: Shadowlands has major problems. Especially one bug is massively disturbing players and leading to complaints.
Players in the Maw are currently having very little fun. This is not only because the Maw has been deliberately designed by Blizzard to be oppressive and unfriendly, but also because of a disruptive bug: the most important feature of the zone simply doesn’t work – and it hasn’t worked since the launch almost 5 weeks ago.
What is the Maw? The Maw is a special endgame zone in WoW: Shadowlands. Players can only perform a limited number of actions in the Maw each day, because almost everything increases the attention of the Jailor. This makes it increasingly difficult to stay in the Maw. Daily quests and rare enemies reward players with reputation from a vendor and the currency needed to buy rewards – including the ability to socket items.
Bugged event cripples endgame zone in WoW
What is the problem? Especially the Beastwarrens are causing issues. A larger event called the Beast Hunt is supposed to take place here regularly. Players can participate in these hunts to gain a significant amount of reputation or receive special rewards.
The annoying part: on many realms, the event is bugged. Over several days, the event “hangs,” and necessary enemies simply do not appear. Events are typically reset only upon server restarts, which occasionally happen in the early morning hours, but mostly only during maintenance on Wednesdays.
The error is not consistent, however. On some realms, the events run without issues, while on others, they are regularly unplayable.
Particularly frustrating is that the Beast Hunt is currently the only way to obtain a mount that can be used in the Maw. Such a mount can drop during the hunt – provided it actually works. Other mounts are not allowed in the Maw, which is why most players are on foot.
How can the problem be fixed? Even Blizzard admits that there is currently no solution (via battle.net). Some players report that they successfully finished the hunt by hopping to other realms via the group finder. Others report that the events were buggy on multiple realms in a row, causing them to simply give up.
The developers at Blizzard are working on the problem and hopefully will have a hotfix soon. Because otherwise, the Maw could become even more unpopular than it already is. And unfortunately, this is not due to the Jailor.
