World of Warcraft is quite complicated. Newcomers have a hard time, but even veteran fans are often overwhelmed by the complexity. It is even worse if one has physical or mental limitations that make playing even more difficult.
A feature that the developers recently introduced has now been highly praised. We are talking about the controversial “One-Button Assistant”, which essentially takes over the game rotation. You can then focus entirely on dodging, positioning, and interrupts, or simply the boss abilities. Since this option has become available, many who previously had no chance can also enjoy WoW again. I was a cutting-edge raider and had a 3,500 rating, but now I’m a disabled veteran with brain damage. I just returned to WoW and it’s such an overwhelming experience for me. I’m shocked at how much worse I’ve gotten at the game. I sit in raids and am confused about which buttons I need to press, it’s just embarrassing. The single-button assistant completely solves the problem for me and it is what it is, but I’m really grateful for this option as it allows me to continue playing WoW. Thank you, developers (…), that was a really good accessibility idea.
