The race for the World First Kill in World of Warcraft is over. The guild Echo managed to defeat Fyrakk first on Mythic.
It took nearly 2 weeks for the race for the “World First Kill” of Fyrakk on Mythic difficulty. The ninth and final boss of the raid “Amirdrassil, Hope of the Dreams” was defeated by the European group Echo last Sunday night. After 344 attempts, the professionals finally managed to send Fyrakk to the floor and secure the title.
You can see the kill attempt in this video starting at 11:14:50:
Even though it didn’t seem that close in the video, the raid was on the brink of complete annihilation – as hardly half a second later, one of the seeds would have exploded and surely killed the entire raid.
This is how exciting the race was this time: The race for the first kill of Fyrakk is likely to go down as one of the most exciting races in the history of World of Warcraft. Both Echo and the competition from Team Liquid had already beaten the boss down to about 1.7% health before their group was wiped. Such a close, thrilling race hasn’t happened in a long time.
What was the reward? Even though there is no real prize from Blizzard for the race, there is a different reward associated with it. The legendary weapon of Fyrakk, the axe “Fyr’alath,” has dropped for the first time. While the weapon can be equipped immediately, it overwhelms the bearer after a short time. A quest line begins, allowing the weapon to be adjusted so that it can be used by the bearer.
Now that the Mythic race is over, it seems likely that Fyr’alath can also drop on lower difficulties starting with the next ID. This was also the case in the last raid tier.
