A YouTuber has recreated Durotar in Unreal Engine 4. This is how the Orcs’ territory in WoW could look!
Many players who have committed to the Horde as Orcs or Trolls will remember their first steps in World of Warcraft. For all players of these two races, the journey through Azeroth began in Durotar, one of the starting areas of the Horde, which just happens to be right next to the Horde’s capital Orgrimmar. After the Horde fled across the sea to Kalimdor in Warcraft 3, the green heroes found a new home here and named their capital after an old leader of the Horde – Orgrimm Doomhammer.
In the meantime, the game world of World of Warcraft has visually aged quite a bit. Muddy textures and barren landscapes are no longer a pleasant place to linger, and those wandering through the plains will quickly wish to return to a nicer and especially greener place.
The Orc starting area in beauty
The YouTuber Daniel L repeatedly takes individual areas from World of Warcraft, examines them closely, and then transfers them to Unreal Engine 4. You can see what Durotar would look like with significantly polished graphics in the following video. There’s a little tour through the zone and the most important locations, such as Dustwind Gorge or Blade’s Edge.
Daniel L has previously implemented some zones in Unreal Engine 4. Here are a few more areas in prettier graphics:
What do you think of Daniel L’s videos and his interpretations of the game world of Azeroth? Would WoW really look better in the graphics of Unreal Engine 4? Or would that ruin the beautiful look of the comic game world?
