Do you need a “real” healer in WoW Mythic+14? No. A cat druid is completely sufficient – as this player proves.
The hardest dungeons of World of Warcraft are the “Mythic+” dungeons. While levels 1-9 are still relatively harmless, it gets tougher and more brutal from +10 onwards. A well-coordinated team or players who know exactly what they are doing are essential here.
Hard to imagine that such a group can get by without a “real” healer. But that’s exactly what happened. The druid Razorstarz healed his group in Mythic+14 – even though he was in the Feral specialization.
How is that possible? The achievement was made possible through a clever combination of talents and a legendary item. These are:
- The Level 30 talent “Restorative Affinity” grants “Ysera’s Gift” and heals the druid for 3% of his health every 5 seconds. If the druid is at maximum HP, a group member is healed instead. Additionally, the druid gains access to 4 healing spells (Rejuvenation, Swiftmend, Wild Growth, and Ursol’s Vortex).
- The Level 35 talent “Heart of the Wild” increases the healing of healing spells by 30% for 45 seconds and reduces their mana cost by 50%.
- The Legendary “Oath of the Elder Druid”: This increases the healing from Ysera’s Gift by 75%. Additionally, the druid receives “Heart of the Wild” for 10 seconds once per minute when switching to healing form.
The combination of all these effects means that the druid is a truly effective healer for 10 seconds every 60 seconds and can also contribute healing during the rest of the time. In particularly tough fights, he can activate Heart of the Wild for 45 seconds and essentially play as a “full healer”.
Moreover, Razorstarz also deals solid damage, which makes most fights end significantly faster.
Group help was crucial: However, it should also be noted that the group around the druid was very efficient and could also provide support with massive self-healing. The druid’s teammate can significantly contribute to healing with the Convoke Spirits, while death knights and demon hunters already have solid self-healing.
The combination of these classes played a crucial role in making this endeavor successful.
Druids are ideal: Unlike many other classes, druids are still best suited for such a hybrid role. Druids have had this reputation since Vanilla, which has been increasingly reinforced over the course of the last expansions. Especially among healing druids, it is still common to see them switch to Moonkin or Cat form to deal a little damage.
However, it is quite rare to see a cat druid become the primary healer of the group.
For the future, Razorstarz has many more such runs planned – he also intends to make videos on a “M+15” or even “M+16”. Amazing what some players can achieve with their classes.
What do you think of this achievement? Creative and impressive? Or is it “easy peasy” and anyone can replicate it?
