The first Alpha of Dragonflight seems to be on the starting blocks. Version 10.0 of World of Warcraft has already appeared.
A few days ago, when the next expansion for World of Warcraft was presented, many believed that Dragonflight would take a long time to arrive. After all, there was only little gameplay to see, which is mostly a sign that development is not far along.
However, this may have been a mistake. Because the Alpha of Dragonflight seems to already be in the starting blocks.
What happened? The colleagues from wowhead have noticed a change on the various servers. The internal “wowdev server” has been updated with a new version of World of Warcraft. The version has changed from 9.2.5 to 10.0 – this is the version number for the upcoming expansion “Dragonflight”.
Although the server and the data on it are still encrypted, making data mining impossible, the mere act of updating the server suggests that the Alpha test for Dragonflight will begin soon.
When exactly does it start? There is no concrete date for the start of the Alpha yet. If Blizzard adheres to the process of previous expansions, then there will first be a “Friends & Family” Alpha, where the families and close friends of the developers can take a peek. However, this phase usually does not last long, and shortly thereafter, streamers and press representatives will also be invited, before regular players are invited in waves.
As soon as Dragonflight is playable in any version, we will, of course, report on it.
