Patch 10.0.5 of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is already in the works. Blizzard has revealed the first content, and we show what’s in the update.
The release of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is still less than 3 weeks ago, but Blizzard aims to adopt a significantly more aggressive strategy regarding the release of new content. The first sign of this is already on the PTR, as the first small content patch, Update 10.0.5, is being tested.
What’s in Patch 10.0.5 of WoW: Dragonflight
Trading Post – New Items for Loyal Players
One of the biggest new “side features” will be the Trading Post in World of Warcraft. This is a new building that you can find in Orgrimmar (Horde) and Stormwind (Alliance). The basic idea here is that there will be vendors with changing inventory every month, where you can buy special items. These items include:
- Exclusive mounts
- Pets
- Toys
- Transmog sets
Although many of the rewards have been completely newly developed, you can also obtain items from the Trading Post that have been in the game for a long time but are no longer available. These could be rewards from the discontinued “Warcraft Trading Card Game”, but also items that were previously available in the shop for real money.
Items are purchased there with “Trader’s currencies.” Every active account (that is not banned or suspended) receives 500 of these currencies for free on the first day of the month. Another 500 currencies can be earned through various tasks each month.
The missions cover all sorts of content – whether PvE, PvP, pet battles, professions, or “Other”, such as naming all dragon aspects with “/love”.
There will be numerous missions, so you have a wide range of options to earn Trader’s currencies.
Revisions of Several Classes
Blizzard is also using Patch 10.0.5 to significantly overhaul some of the classes and specializations of WoW: Dragonflight again. Some talent trees will be drastically changed once again.
The biggest changes will be for druids: They will receive major overhauls of their talent trees in the “Guardian” and “Balance” specializations, but even feral druids will receive some adjustments. Many talents will change their position in the talent tree.
Further (less extensive) adjustments will occur for the following classes and specializations:
- Monk (Mistweaver)
- Paladin (Holy)
- Priest (Discipline, Holy, Shadow)
- Shaman (Restoration)
- Warlock (Affliction)
- Warrior (Arms)
The exact details of the talent changes can be found in the official patch notes from Blizzard.
Transmogrification: Finally for White and Gray Items
Even before the release of Dragonflight, Blizzard announced this feature and disappointed some fans by not including it in the game at release. Now the developers are fulfilling the promise:
White and gray items can künftig be used for transmogrification. However, this also means that these items will then be “bound on equip” – so you can’t just pass them around the whole realm.
While many don’t pay attention to white and gray items at all, there are a number of clothing pieces with special appearances that are only available in white or gray quality. Especially the “more common” clothing of the inhabitants of Azeroth is often white or gray.
Be aware that all of this information pertains to an early version of Patch 10.0.5. Some of the content may still change before release, and it is quite possible that more content will be added later.
More Freedom for Fishermen
If you enjoy fishing in World of Warcraft, you have already unlocked many cosmetic traits for this profession. There are many toys that visually adjust the float of your fishing rod.
However, the reality so far has been that most players simply use the “Oversized Floater” as it makes the float significantly larger, making it easier to click on.
With Patch 10.0.5, this will also be a problem of the past. You will receive a new toy called the “Reusable Oversized Floater.” This is combinable with all other floaters, so soon you can use your favorite floater and make it particularly large. This should provide a bit more visual variety when fishing.
You will receive the toy when you catch a total of 100 fish with the oversized floater.
When will Patch 10.0.5 be released? There is currently no reliable release date for the update. However, smaller “0.5 patches” are generally tested for significantly shorter periods than large updates. Thus, a rough release date can be aimed for the end of January 2023 or early February 2023.
However, it should be noted that Blizzard usually takes about two weeks off over Christmas, during which the developers are with their families and enjoy the holidays. So this time should be taken into account for a potential release date.
Are you looking forward to the first patch for Dragonflight? Or do you still have plenty of work with the current content, so that no new content is needed right now?
Currently, the “Race to World First” is happening in WoW – you can watch the exciting race here.
